One of the best examples of arrested state of decay from the White Pine Fever glory days of old. It was last in full operation in 1927. The Belmont Mill is a true gem that all ghost town and old mining aficionados need to experience. The four story mill is still very intact. The superintendent house, office and boarding house are all still standing. And the tramway! The cable still goes 1.5 miles to the mine up the canyon.
The trip up to the mine is well worth it too. There are a number of structures intact, including the old tram house.
Directions to Get There: From Ely, about 50 miles west on US 50, about 3.5 miles west of Little Antelope Summit is a signed turnoff for Belmont Mill. This is County Rd. 9. Follow it for 3.5 miles, bear left at the intersection. At another 2.2 miles, stay to the right. Another 6 miles will bring you to the mill.
