Founded in the late 1874. By the summer of 1876 the population had swelled to 1,000. Because of the constant problem of the clashing of cultures the town was divided into three sections, an Irish section, a Central European section and a Cornish section. The population had dwindled to only 4 by 1911. A series of revivals have taken place over the years with Tybo’s population increasing and decreasing again with each new boom and bust. Today there are still a few permanent residents.
Site is open with some cabins in all states of repair, including occupied. Coke ovens. Extensive mining equipment. Old store. Mill remains.
