Founded in the late 1860s. In 1870 a twenty stamp mill was completed with the stack and foundations still intact today. By 1871 the population was well over 100 with a post office, stores, saloons and all the usual old west establishments. The post office close and Troy was empty by 1913. But sporadic mining and occupation has occurred off and on several times in the last 100 years.
Site is open with some cabins still standing and some stone ruins as well as the mill.
