Founded in 1867. From it’s beginning Eberhardt was one of the more important towns in the district. In addition to fabulously rich ore in the nearby mines, it became an important milling center. By 1869 the population had grown to over 200. The International mill, completed in 1871, had the longest tramway in the nation. The population held fairly steady until 1880, but with the failing of the mines in the district the town started to fade rapidly. By 1897 only two residents were left. It has been a ghost since 1904.
