What is Relic Run & Retro Ramble?

The Relic Run is a vehicle-assisted overland expedition organized as a throwback to the older days of motorized backcountry travel. Participants in the Relic Run are required to operate in the spirit of 4x4 exploration in the 1970’s. Only 1970’s and older vehicles, only 1970’s and older camping gear, and only 1970’s and older route finding. The Retro Ramble is a similarly themed event catered to 1980’s era vehicles. We've combined the two events in the past for some fun rivalry and we'll be doing that again for the 2017 Roaming in Wyoming event.

Jack - Yes there will be. You can leave it at my house. I'm about 5 mins from the meeting place. Shoot me a PM and I'll get you the address. There will be a few other trailer rigs as well. Looking forward to meeting you and showing you around the old place!

trip report Relic Run/Retro Run 2017

These pictures start in Island Park, Idaho, at the Buffalo River. Then we headed North Through the West Entrance at Yellowstone. Then we spent the night in Cody, Wyoming after we met up with the rest of the caravan! the drive from Cody to the secret Lake was full of beautiful overlooks, and vast scenery of pine trees, and amazing canyons! At the lake besides enjoying the peaceful tranquility, we fished, canoed, and ate wonderful food! Everyone was so fun! Loved spending time with friends, and making new ones! After we left the lake, we hit Yellowstone from the North and traveled back through Mammoth, visited the Norris geyser, took in the wonderful sights and smells of the Yellowstone hotpots and such along the caldera border. Our last night was spent in Island park, eating pizza, enjoying our last night with good friends! What an amazing trip! can't wait for next year!!!!:)

My slides will be developed on the 18th. Walgreens will also send me a copy on disc so I'll upload as soon as I can. :)

Call for Photographs

I am in the process of transforming photographs taken at the most recent Relic Run / Retro Ramble gathering into a medium that said images can be viewed by a yet-to-be discovered technique from the future, possibly using electricity and storage on a data punch card-like technology. If you are in possession of similar photographic images, either on 35mm slides, negatives, or polaroid and would like me to transmogrify them for the future please let me know and we can work out something via the US Postal Service.

I believe there is at least one more undeveloped roll of slide film out there along with my Leica R7 camera.

A few samples of these transmogrified photographs...
